Raising Them the Microsoft Way
At school, Stephen's teacher showed him how to use the "favorites" function on Explorer to save the websites he likes to visit. When he was playing around on the computer at home tonight, working on a project on Alaska, he tried to demonstrate this new skill to me.
I smiled and explained to him that the "favorites" are individual to each computer; the "favorites" on the computer at school aren't the same as the "favorites" here at home. He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Guess I'll have to do this the old-fashioned way."
And I, thinking proudly for a moment that perhaps my child was going to ask for an encyclopedia, asked, "what do you mean?"
He said, "I guess I'll have to type the address in this little white bar myself."
Oh, yeah, the old-fashioned way. Only if you were born in 1998, I suppose.

I love it. 1998 = The olden days.

Very funny! One day Camden (also born in 1998) said to me, "Mom, back when you were alive, did phones have those circle things for dialing the number?" Um, excuse me son, back when I was ALIVE? I know I'm old, but I haven't quite expired yet! He assured me that he meant to say back when I was young. Um, okay. But in a kid's eyes -- old, dead, you know, it all blends together, I guess.

Too funny!
Maybe someone could tell him about del.icio.us and he could wow everyone at school!

LOL - and I'm still giggling over the comment above, old=dead. Too funny... aren't kids the best for making us smile? (That is, when they aren't making us pull our hair out of course...)

Here I was thinking the old fashioned way would be to google it, but typing in the site in the "white thingy" is fabulous!

That is HILARIOUS! I can't wait to see what Munchkin comes up with. She is just 4 but she has "her" computer games and she is quite adept at getting around on my laptop - touchpad and everything! *whew*

That is so funny! I used to work at a boys and girls club, and those kids were so smart. I had a four year old that would walk around my classroom giving suggestions to classmates. Do you want to go to "http://www.disney.com?" She would spell it out for them!
