Warm Fuzzies? From LOST? Yep.

Normally, I want answers from Lost episodes, and if (when) I don't get them, I feel frustrated.  But not tonight.  I didn't CARE that there was basically no new information, because MY WORD, I was just so warm and fuzzy and chuckly from all the dialogue and character development.  I have always loved Sawyer's one-liners, but tonight?  The man was in rare form.  When Jin spoke English and Sawyer said, "Hey, look who's Hooked On Phonics?"...well, I laughed out loud.  And Lost never makes me laugh out loud.

Then there was the whole Hurley-regaining-faith-in-humanity storyline--that warmed my heart.  Our big dude deserves a break from all the cosmic bad luck, don't you think?  Watching him and Charlie race down that hillside put a big, stupid grin on my face.  (Even though you KNOW there's no way the battery or gasoline would've still worked in a car that old.)

There aren't any mysteries to discuss tonight, I suppose, since none were really raised.  Just good, solid character development.  That is some fine television, my friends.

Your thoughts?

I think finally Lost is giving me the warm fuzzies like back in the 1st season... I think it was much needed right now!

I could not agree more. The characters are what drives the show for me. I also loved the van ride--don't we all want to have those experiences that transcend our circumstances?

I'm so with you...that was a great episode. My husband missed it so I was trying to explain how funny it was and he gave me a weird look...Lost? Funny? Yup, it was :) My fave part was when Sawyer called Hurley "Jumbo-tron" and then hurley said something like, "whatever red. neck. dude."

It seemed like the show thought we didn't realize that Alex was probably Danielle's (is that her name?) daughter. I don't know about you but that was no mystery to me.

Yeah, and I didn't think Alex was a mystery to Kate, either, since she accompanied Claire to the place they held her kidnapped and Kate heard about a girl who helped Claire. But maybe I am remembering wrong.
Loved the episode. Sometimes it is nice to sit back and ride shotgun with Hurley...even if we are only driving in circles on the golf course.

It was good to get back to the old gang on the beach. It had been becoming too much of a Jack, Kate, and Sawyer show. I love them, but I love Locke and Sayid and all the rest, too, and they've been left hanging for weeks.

I always love Hurley moments and love that this episode centered on him. True, it didn't really advance the story line and give us any more answers, but it's nice to just have some fun sometimes.

I thought the same thing as Jenn -- they made it seem like such a big reveal that Alex is likely Rousseau's (sp?) daughter, but I think most fans have thought that for a long while.

It was nice to be able to sit and just enjoy the show for a change, instead of trying to analyze everything. Sawyer's one liners had me crying. It was great getting to see Hurley getting something good.

I totally agree that tonights episode was great! DH and I just laughed and laughed. Hurley and Sawyer are always great for the one liners, but it was just one after another!

I did feel sad for our heartbroken Sawyer, at the end, on the beach. Looking at all the couples and him alone because Kate ran off he save Jack.

All in all a really great episode!

I was rolling at Sawyer. And thinking of you. ;)

I really enjoyed this episode. It was time to get back to the other characters on the island. I love the relationship between Hurley and Sawyer, I laughed LOL several times. There were other funny moments like when the head fell off! Morbid, yes, but funny.

It was so nice to see something POSITIVE on TV. Most shows out there are either terribly depressing or too vulgar to be truly funny. This was such a sweet change from past mysterious, tense, and anger-ridden Lost episodes.

I loved when Sawyer was angry and went to yell at Hurley and Hurley just gives him this big old hug! Yes, I think we all love Sawyer! I was glad to see everyone together again.

I think anyone that's watched since the first season should have put together the Rousseau/Alex connection. Way back when, when Rousseau was holding Sayid captive, she talked about her daughter, Alex and how she was taken. The only big revelation for me came a few episodes ago when we realized that Alex is also Ben's daughter.

Loved the Hurley episode. And I laughed out loud when I saw Cheech Marin!

My Hubs and I are total LOST addicts and have felt the frustration of too many "Others" and not enough answers. We too loved last night's episode. It felt like a season one episode that got us hooked in the first place. It broke my heart the way Kate tried to resolve her relationship with "James" and then called him "Sawyer" when he didn't take the bait. I also laughed outloud at the "hooked on phonics comment". And, we always love Hurley episodes. It was just an all around good episode. Yeah, LOST, you have redeemed yourself. At least for this week.

I loved that episode. I just watched a couple hours ago because I tivoed. Sawyer is so funny! I was all giddy when they were driving around LOL!

Thank goodness we did not have to see the OTHERS.

Linda

I'll add to the opinion that this was a much-needed episode. I loved that Charlie went with Hurley. My Dh was sitting there going, "that van would never start," blah, blah, blah. This is the ISLAND! I thought the whole Roger Workman thing was hilarious. And I loved when Hurley ran and hugged Sawyer. I liked getting more background on Hurley. He's one of my favorite characters.

And I'm with Alli on the biggest recent surprise being that Alex is Ben's daughter. So why is Danielle out wandering the island if Ben is her husband? Is (was) he? And I was totally confused by the whole light-catching-while-burying-Ekko thing. Huh?

Ok, ok, I guess I'll keep watching. We play it week by week.

Personally, I think Sawyer should just get over Kate and move on. She's not that great. There's gotta be another girl on that island just looking for a bad boy to fix.

My DH and I both laughed so hard at that line, too! It struck home especailly because our youngest child is learning phonics and our kids are half-Korean.

I thought it was the best episode of the whole season. The Others and Jack have just bored the stew out of me. Hurley's the hero of the show in my book. Besides that, he's my #3 best pretend boyfriend. ;)

I'm going to comment again because I love reading the comments and maybe "figuring out" something else with your insights. Do you think that maybe just because we are told that Alex is Ben's daughter that it doesn't mean it's true? I think it might just be what they tell her. I mean we don't really know where the french chick came from anyway do we? Anyway, you know I liked the episode when I'm still reading and commenting on it by friday :)

Jenn, I think it's possible that Ben is not really Alex's dad. They could've just told her that all those years to keep her from getting curious.

My husband and I loved this episode of Lost. I liked that it didn't have yet one more mystery for us to solve or have resolved later in the show, or even wondering if we were ever going to have them resolved. I laughed at the witty lines and enjoyed an hour of light hearted tv.

Just catching up with you on 'Lost' but the Hooked on Phonics thing had me rolling too!

And I know I'm a total nerd..missed almost all of season 2, but what was the monster in the beginning? I missed it!

Chiming in late on Lost. Loved this one. Sawyer cracked me up so much. When he called Hurley "Snuffy" I laughed out loud. Yay for Lost, they redeemed themselves this week.
