La Musique
Big Mama has a fun little meme at her place, asking us for our seven favorite songs. Seeing as how the carb detox is sucking EVERY OUNCE OF CREATIVITY AND PRODUCTIVITY out of my body, I thought I'd play along.
And a great big disclaimer here: I'm a music nut, and limiting my favorites to seven is like asking me to choose a favorite candy bar.
(Candy? Candy? Did someone say "candy"?)
1. Jack and Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp. I'm of the firm belief this is the best song ever recorded. It has everything: a storyline, great vocals, that catchy little drum/guitar rif that it's easy to bang out on your steering wheel, and the anguished longing for youth ("hold on to sixteen as long as you ca-han...") Great song.
2..The Luckiest by Ben Folds. This is mine and Hubs' song. Well, one of them. But the words just make me all dreamy.
3. Walkin' On Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. If you can listen to this song and still feel funky, then who are you?
4. Every Season by Nicole Nordeman. Oh mercy, I can relate to every word of that song to my very core.
5. I Can't Smile Without You by Barry Manilow. Y'all know I've got to include some of my Barry in this list. It's hard to pick a favorite, but that would probably be it.
6. How's The World Treating You by James Taylor and Allison Krauss. Those are two of my favorite performers, so a duet with them? Ah, it was bound to be a favorite.
7. YOU CAN ONLY READ THIS NEXT ONE IF YOU PROMISE NOT TO LAUGH. (I've already included Barry Manilow on my list, so I suppose the damage has been done anyway). We Could Be Together by Debbie Gibson. Yep. It's true.
I left out a dozen artists--like the early Madonna, the Go-gos, Martina McBride and many more. That was hard!
So...what would your list include?
