Five Significant Deaths

How's that for a cheerful post title? 

Tomorrow night is the Lost season finale, the last episode for eight very long months.  Losties around the world--including yours truly--are  about to enter a state of mourning.  (And you non-Losties will no doubt kick your heels in glee that the blogosphere will be SHUTTING UP ABOUT LOST, ALREADY.  As a matter of fact, my own father told me this weekend he was "a little scared" at how obsessed I am with this show.  Silly, silly man.)

It has been widely hinted by several sources (including TV Guide) that there will be five significant deaths in tomorrow's finale.  Here's your chance to go on the record stating who you think those deaths will be. 

Here is my prediction--

1. Charlie
2. Bernard
3. Desmond
4. Sayid (though it pains me to no end to say it)
5. Ben

(And for what it's worth, I also predict that there's a surprise pregnancy to be revealed--maybe Rose?)

No, no, no. Please let's all take Sayid off of our lists and pray that they hear us. Oh, I'd so hate to see him go. I'd sacrifice someone else to the island....um, let's see. Maybe Vincent, he's a main character right? Oh boy, I've stooped to the lowest level. :) My list looks exactly like yours because in reality, I think Sayid is done. Now, I'm off to cry in the corner until tomorrow. Or, until next year when it comes back on.

Sorry, for the non-Losties here, why won't it be on for another 8 months? It doesn't return when the new season starts in the fall???

How sad is it that I don't even watch the show, but still check out your posts on it EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.

It still seems like Charlie's death is too predictable, but I'm back to thinking that he's probably going to die. I also think Bernard or Rose, Ben (will Locke take his place as leader of the Others--or at least Jacob's henchman?), and Sayid. As for the women, I don't know which one(s) will get the axe, but I will be surprised if Juliet, Claire, Rousseau, and Kate are all alive by the end of tomorrow night.

I think Desmond's part in the mythology of the show is too important for them to kill him off now, but that might just be wishful thinking!

Truthfully, I don't watch the show....but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think Charlie is going to die. Just 'cause it seems like the actor has been on a ton of talk shows lately.

As long as it's not Hurley, I'm fine with anybody else kicking the bucket. Some might not consider his a significant death, but I would -- to me he's the hero of the show, the Everyman. I love me some Hurley.

Now, if you asked me who I'd LOVE to see die...well, that would be Jack, who think has become too sanctimonious for his britches. Not to mention, he's dull, dull, dull. ;)

I will not, will NOT, accept Desmond or more importantly Sayid dying. WILL NOT. Here's what I think:
1. Charlie (he's a given, with all the speculation on the web, and if last week was any indication, I will probably bawl my eyes out when this happens)
2. Mikhail (I could see he and Charlie dying together, kind of a fight to the death, but that's just speculation on my part)
3. Bernard (which will be sad, but he hasn't been featured this season at all, so, oh well)
4. Cindy (because really, why do we need her, except maybe to tell what has been going on with those who were abducted, which, now makes me wonder, is she pregnant?)
5. Tom (personally my favorite of the Others)
I still think there is more of Rousseau's backstory to tell, which is the main reason I don't think she will die. I'm sure she will die once her backstory is told and she is reunited with her daughter. And Sayid, I would be more than upset if he dies.

This is kind of off the subject, but...remember the Science teacher a long time ago that went into the forest with Jack and Kate to get the dynamite? I knew right away he was going to get blown up, because he was the only unknown character with them. It's the Star Trek effect.

I bet they will not kill Charlie simply because that's what everyone thinks.

If Naomi is who she says she is and if rumors floating around toward the end of last season are true, we haven't seen the last of Michael and Walt.

I wonder if Juliet herself could be a surprise pregnancy? It hasn't been that long since her boyfriend got killed by Ana Lucia, although I assume she would have had the means to prevent it.

I am pretty sure Charlie and Sayid are gone. (Or at least that is what I have been reading and hearing)

I also think Bernard will go just beacause he finally pops back into the picture after not seeing him for awhile.

Kara - I don't think your theory about "there's too much backstory to tell" will hold up. What about Libby? I think that was an untimely death and still doesn't make sense to me.

My thoughts:
1. Desmond - I think Desmond wants it to be Charlie because Desmond, in reality, he sees himself dying over and over. He brings Charlie along to have him fall into the "death traps". Does that make sense?

2. Sun - it would be a shocker.

3. Juliet - another lost love for Jack.

4. Karl - he's a goofy character.

5. Tom - time for him to go.

Honestly, I can't even begin to guess who they'll kill off. All I can say is that if it's Charlie or Hurley, I'm going to be very, very upset! Charlie seems almost too obvious, so I kind of wonder if he's a red herring.

PLEASE kill Jack and Kate! I'm so sick of them! Sawyer used to also be in the please-kill-him category, but now that he's being nice, I can tolerate him. I can happily do without Locke, too. He's become too freaky/weird for my liking. What an obsessive weirdo!

I don't even want to think about five LOST characters dying in the finale!!! Although, I wouldn't mind if the five was comprised of an Other (or two).

I hope one or two of the significant deaths are in the flashbacks. (Maybe Jack killed someone? Maybe Annie died in childbirth with Ben's baby???) Thus, fewer of the main characters have to be sacrificed...

Since Naomi and the two women on the Looking Glass were the last to be introduced in the season, I'm hoping their characters might be part of the morgue count. One can hope... !!!

It is going to be a long summer and fall until S4! (And, a shortened season at that!)

I've always thought Michael and Walt would be back. It's not like anyone just gets off the island and goes home. Never thought they ever made it home. I've been waiting to see where they have been kept. Underwater station maybe???

Sorry - couldn't read this post!!! I watch lost when it comes out on DVD. We buy it and then watch it over a few nights. I'm sure it is a great post though!!! ;)

Ben dying would be interesting. But I can't really see that either.

Rick- you're right. I guess I'm just hoping for a Rousseau flashback, because I think it would be interesting.
And I like your theory about Desmond wanting Charlie to be the one to die because he keeps seeing himself dying over and over. That would be a great LOST twist, even though I don't think it will turn out that way...
I still don't think Sayid will be part of the death count. Other thoughts are Naomi and Karl (who is an annoying character).
And there seem to be some Jack and Juliet haters... Jack has gotten on my nerves, but I don't really want him to die. yet.

On a related note, I was at the local city summer carnival this weekend. Now, I'm not fashion-conscious, but it appears that there's a company out called "Hurley". And they like to put their name all over their clothing, like Tommy Hilfiger.
Funny thing is, when I was seeing these "Hurley" shirts every 3 minutes or so for 5 full hours, all I could think about was LOST. :) :) :)

3. Bernard or Jin
4. Danielle
5. Kate (but not really. I think she may "appear dead" but certainly won't die. She and there ever-lovely Jack have a lot of lovin' left to do.)
(and MAYBE Charlie too. And maybe Ben. I heard AT LEASE 5 so there could be more.)

I can't wait to see what happens, and what the "game changer" is!
