SO Lost.
Well, that was the most intense hour of television I have ever watched in my life. I actually watched it standing up. And because I don't want to forget any of this stuff, I'm going to jump right in. Let's go, Losties...
First of all, who is "The Oceanic Six"? Obviously, only six of them came back from the island. Anyone want to guess who it was? I'm betting Jack, Kate and Hurley (those three we KNOW). I bet the other three are Locke (I predict he was the one in the casket in the season closer last time), Juliet and Jack's dad. Yep, Jack's dad. Remember in the season closer last time, he spoke as if his dad were alive--so it has to be him.
Or maybe not. It is Lost, after all.
Poor Hurley. Dude. The poor guy is tormented. The scene next to the Creepy Hut was so scary, and I don't think he imagined it--he couldn't have. He didn't know it existed!
Here's a random thought--you know the scene where Hurley and Charley were talking in the hospital, and then Hurley "made" him disappear? And off the in the distance of that scene, there was the back of a woman's head, and she had a long blonde braid? I bet that was Libby. I read on a message board last season that we hadn't seen the last of Libby. But then again, wouldn't that be madness?
Does anyone else wonder why Kate isn't worried about being re-arrested after rescue? It seems like she would NOT want to get off that island.
Also, whose eye was that peeking out of the peephole in the Creepy Hut? Locke? Who was the guy in the mental institution? Are the original Losties (the ones who left with Locke) still alive on the island? And if they are, how did Hurley get back with Jack and Kate?
Oh my word, I can hardly wait until next week.
Fire away, y'all--what did you think?

I stumbled across your blog and have been often lurking from time to time. I started to read your Lost post, because I LOVE Lost and then thought, "Wait! I haven't seen it yet! I am on the west coast! Aaaah. That's okay. Now, I'll pay better attention when I watch it in ten minutes!

I have so many questions. I think the 6 are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Jack's dad (you convinced me of that), Locke (or Ben) and Sawyer. Remember in the season finale last year that Kate said to Jack, "I have to get back to him." I think she was thinking of Sawyer.
I also wonder how Hurley got back with Jack and Kate. Plus, why the heck would Kate want off the island. I missed the Libby reference...good catch.
I wish Charley wasn't just a figment of Hurley's imagination. I wish he was still around!
Did you just see the commercial on Eli Stone? OH MY WORD! How many hours until next week?

I cried when Hurley went to tell Claire about Charlie...it's just so sad. Charlie was one of my favorites.
As for the questions raised by this episode...there are too many to even try to answer. I love this show; it stirs up my emotions and makes me think. Great television.

Okay, I think the eyes in the window were Locke's. Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Jack's dad are four of the six. I think Locke was in the casket. I wish Charley was alive too. That made me cry -stupid tv show. I like to think Sawyer is one of the six. And why is Kate not in jail when they get back? In the flash forward tonight Jack had not yet grown out his beard. So something is going to make him change his mind about going back. Can't wait til next week.

Fantastic...Only 7 episodes left this yesr. :o( Anyway, I thought that it was fantastic, fast paced and incredible. I cried when Hurly told Claire. So sad so so sad

I just KNEW you would have already posted about LOST!
I'm so forgetful...I need to go back and watch the closer from last season. I'm confused on your notes. Who's Libby? And, Jack spoke about his dad as if he were alive?
I kept wondering why Kate was so confident to stay off the island, too...when Jack (in the future) told her they had to go back. I also thought the eyeball was Locke's (in the shack.)
I'm just so confused! I always am with LOST, though.

Oh I think the visit from Jack to Hurley in the mental hospital was before he talked to kate and went to the funeral. So it's before his melt down. The island wants them back....

SHANNON! i called my mom to talk about it after it was over, and she still has 3 episodes left from last season to watch!!! i was going crazy, and if it wasn't so late...i SERIOUSLY considered calling you to talk about it!! it's driving me crazy!!
I agree that I think it's Locke in the casket...especially since Jack said at the funeral home that it's "not friend or family". It is ABSOLUTELY DRIVING ME NUTS thinking about these flash fowards!! Poor Jack, he seems to be in bad shape in his beard days...
and hurley seeing charlie?!?! do you think its possible that the only way to actually "break free" from the island is to die? and then you continue to exist in the real world?!?! sheesh.
OBVIOUSLY there are losties still on the island that the "6" left behind (can't believe they did that). If Locke is indeed in the casket, I wonder what happened to make him leave.
i think that's all i have for now...i might have to email you later though! :)

I think Locke is the one in the casket, too. But I read on another site that people think it's Michael (remember him? Walt's Dad) because something on the paper in Jack's hand said New York (and I guess Michael is from New York).
But here's my question... Is the guy that we saw at the very end (from Naomi's crew) - is he a good guy? Or will they end up getting rescued by someone else?
And, rhetorically speaking, why would Jack want to grow a beard and cover up that handsome face?? :)

I think Jacob was talking to Locke in the hut (or maybe Jacob has now taken the form of Locke?). I still think Jack was just being sarcastic when he referred to Christian being upstairs in the flash forward, but it's been a while since I saw that episode.

Oh my gosh that was so scary.
Posted by: Heth | Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:30 PM
I think Ben was in the casket. I think Jack made him come as punishment.
How the Oceanic people explained that to the public since the others were "celebrities" and clearly the person in that casket was not- I don't know.
I do think Jacob and Locke were in the hut. I think it was real the first time Hugo saw it and imaginary the second time.
I forgot how bad the longing for a new episode was. How can a week seem so far away when I have waited this long??????
Posted by: Jessica | Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:32 PM
I'm going to guess Michael for the fun of it, since I saw his name in the opening credits.
Posted by: Shauna | Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:32 PM
My guess on the 6 are:
Sun, Jin, (won't take a chance on dying since she's pregnant) Kate, Jack, Hurly, (we know they made it) Sayid (he doesn't believe or like Locke or Ben)
In the coffin?
Sawyer or Locke .... both have no friends or family, both first names start with J (the only letter clear in the death notice Jack holds)
I have yet to miss one second of any of the LOST episodes =)

I DON'T KNOW! I DON'T KNOW! I DON'T KNOW! It's all so confusing and now I won't sleep tonight but will be in a cold sweat dreaming up theories...
AAARRGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Had to go to a friend's house for a reunion of old Dodd folks. We had a wonderful time. I missed the two hour LOST presentation. Does friendship take precedence over LOST? Did tonight. I am in serious need of someone who can email me the episode.
Did they get home? Were there communications to the real world? Surely the island isn't going to blow up? Did it tonight? Did anyone get back to reality? Anyone rescued? Who was left behind?

I'm so confused... which is exactly what they want. They have us all, just like Locke ... we are being tormented and hypnotized by something that we can't explain and can't understand. Will we ever be free?
I certainly hope not! Can't wait for next week!

Unfortunately, the Indiana Jones trilogy arrived from NetFlix today ... so guess who has LOST on DVR? Sigh.
I'll be back after we've saved the archaeological world.
Three.
More.
Times.

I'm finally breathing again. I don't know why I insist on holding my breath the entire episode.
The six...
The three we know, Locke(in the casket?), Desmond (cuz I want him to find Penny, not because it makes any sense), and Ben (because it's JUST THAT CRAZY).
The rest are still on the island eating Dharma peanut butter and hearing voices at Creepy Hut.

I don't know - I read an interview with the writer in a scriptwriting mag and he said that Jack had a "psychic break" and that's why he was talking about his dad like he was alive.
I think the 6 are Hurley, Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Ben, and Locke.
Although, maybe Hurley is dead. Remember how Charley said -"Yes, I'm dead, and yet I'm here..." like... because you're dead too?
Charley and Hurley are my faves, please don't kill BOTH of them off!
Is it possible that Naomi didn't KNOW she wasn't really on Penny's boat? That Naomi was lied to by the other guy?
I want to know what happened to Mikhail. Did he blow himself up with Charley, or is he still out there?
Sigh. The same interview said they put a cap on LOST for 3 (or was it 4) more seasons. The writers had been pushing for that so they would know when the story would end so they could pace it.

I have been watching all the episodes from the beginning thanks to Netflix over the last few months. It is a frustrating, intriguing, and one of the best shows I have ever watched!
What is the lie that they told in the future or fast forwards?
Jack was worried that Hurley would tell...tell what?
I think it was Locke's eye as well.
Why did Hurley apologize to Jack about going with John?
And Charley said that "they" needed help. Was it the people left back on the island?
Too many questions....UGH.....not enough answers.

i'm glad you posted on it. i checked your site right after i watched because i missed the last 2 minutes of the show. it didn't tape. now i'm going to have to watch it on the internet.

OK- The show was great, but am I the only person who thought those "Oceanic" commercials were totally creepy? Not only is it a non-existant airline, but if it was real- it doesn't have the greatest crash record now does it?!!
I'm on the West Coast now- so I have the Eli Stone show on, just so I can see what the commerical is about.
Otherwise I won't sleep tonight!

I really think it's Michael in the coffin. Once the Oceanic 6 returned, it would have become known that he betrayed the other survivors. That could explain why nobody was at the funeral.
I cried when Charlie was talking to Hurley at the hospital. So, so sad.
I also wondered if the blonde pigtail lady was Libby. Nothing is too weird for this show.
