*UPDATED* I Must Be Stuck In the Island's Time Warp...
...because here is my Lost post, 24 hours late. It's the Island's fault. I swear.
Honestly, I don't have much say. I thought the only big surprise was the confirmation that Walt and Michael did, indeed, get off the Island the first time. I didn't see that coming.
It was very cool to see Libby again (though I was hoping for more of her back story). And we learned that Michael is even more conflicted than we thought he was. I can't help but feel sorry for the guy.
The flying arrows (or were those bullets?) in the end were rather shocking, but weren't they just The Others at the temple? Or would that be too simple an explanation for Lost?
And also, may I just say, in case I haven't said it enough, that SAYID ROCKS. Love that boy.
*UPDATED TO ADD* Reader Amanda cleverly pointed out that Alex appears to be wearing an earpiece in the last scene. You can see a screen shot here. Was she in on it?
I'm still a little brain-fuzzy, so y'all knock me out with your clever Lost analysis in the comments section below. If you've written your own Lost post at your blog, feel free to leave a link below.

It's OK- the Island kept you from posting... Just like it wouldn't let Michael commit suicide. Who I totally expected to die BTW...
Once again the writers threw me for a loop just when I thought I knew what would happen next!

I sit at the end of that show every week totally confused! But it is so addicting. I want to buy the whole series when it comes out.

First of all, let me just say that I'm really TICKED that they killed the French woman (Danielle). I all but loved the way that woman kicked booty. I was so hoping she could kill off Ben in the end...sigh.
Was the people shooting at them the Others on Ben's command? (You know how he didn't want Carl OR Danielle to have Alex). Or was there perhaps people from the ship on the island already? I know...that's probably a stretch.
Secondly, I haven't decided if Sayid turned Michael in on purpose because of an alterior motive OR if he truly sees him as a traitor.
And I just have to say I was Oh So Unhappy about that seen with Tom and his "little friend" Arthuro. Why oh why do the networks have to do this?
I've long suspected The Island controlled people's fates, but didn't think it could control them beyond the island. Very surprising, indeed.
My ramblings are now complete. Thank-you

Sayid does not play. He is so awesome.
I can't believe they killed off Rousseau and Carl just like that. I guess I should expect people to be dropping like flies by now, but still.
I thought it was the Others at the end as well, although why they would shoot them is beyond me. Maybe they're operating on Ben's orders somehow.

Okay, we just got a cable subscription a few months ago. I'm late on Lost. Hubs and I are trying to catch up--we're still watching season 2. Did you notice that the shark that attacks Michael and Sawyer in the ocean has the same emblem on its tailfin that is on all the stuff at the "quarantine"? What's up with that? Don't give me details! Just a "yes" or "no" will suffice.
I'm enjoying these Lost posts....they give me lots to look forward to!

Um, Leslie, that's an astute observation! I missed that, but it's not surprising. This show is jam packed with little details.
I agree with you on the hotel scene, Michelle. It just messed up the whole evening...
I don't like Micheal, but Sayid totally rocks. I do wonder what will happen to him (mike) and why Sayid decided to turn him in. I also wonder about the powers of manipulation that Ben must have for Sayid to end up being an assassin for him, esp. after his response to finding that Micheal was working for Ben.
I was sad to see Rousseau killed off, I wanted her to be the one to finish off Ben. I wonder why they were shooting at them?
I hope I can last until the end of April for more of this mind bending show. It is totally the reason I have frown marks between my eyes (concentrating while watching.)

I actually felt a little cheated when they forecast in last week's previews that someone.would.die., and then it turns out to be Danielle and Carl. I mean, they've been sort of integral, but that was way too much hype in my opinion for two rather minor characters.
Did anyone else notice that the captain didn't seem too surprised by Sayid's revelation about Michael? I also thought it to be a little ironic that Sayid condemned Michael for returning to work for Ben, when we know that Sayid's future holds the very same fate! I'm totally bummed that the writer's strike is forcing us to wait until the end of April (AH!) to see another new episode. At least some of my other shows are coming back on in another couple of weeks.

I am also sad about Danielle...But do you remember what Ben did to Juliette's lover boy all because Juliette was "his"? I'm assuming that's why Carl and Danielle were killed...because Alex is also "his". What a fruit loop!
I honestly don't know who the bad guys are at this point...I'm thinking both Ben and Whitmore... I do find it ironic that Sayid calls Michael a traitor and ends up working for him as well (in the future). I really think that the only reason Sayid would end up working for Ben is to protect anyone who is left alive on the island.
I also thought it was interesting how Ben told Michael that there were innocent people on the boat. I really think that Farady and maybe even Charlotte (?) are good guys...at least I am hoping. Oh and the helicopter pilot.
Ok...I'm done rambling now! :)

we too are left each week with our mouths open in disbelief over this show.
i still can't figure out why michael never told anyone when he got home who he was or that he was on that flight? is that weird, or did i miss that explanation somewhere?

I am wondering the true connection between Ben and Widmore. We know there IS a Widmore, as we've seen him, but is it possible that Ben is truly the only evil in this twisted plot? I'll have to wait, I guess, but we haven't seen Widmore after the fact yet, have we...only in flash backs.

I wonder how Taller Ghost Walt appeared to Locke (after he got shot) if he was staying with his grandmother at the time. Knowing that Michael and Walt did get off the island lends more weight to the idea that it wasn't Walt at all but a manifestation of the island or the smoke monster. I still wonder why the Others were so interested in Walt and why he was special, and I was hoping we would find out more about him.

My husband complains after each episode that the show never goes anywhere it just keeps unfolding one mystery after another and I keep replying that if they answered everything in one episode it would be called a Movie not a series and it would have been over after the first hour and a half. duh. Lol

I did like this episode. And I like the theory that Ben had something to do with Carl & Danielle's deaths...I mean, we've already seen how he manipulates people that way.
When Sayid started telling the captain about Michael, the first thing I thought of was how that probably will have something to do with why/how Sayid comes to work for Ben later.
In the previews for the new episodes, we see Hurley say something like, "Is that Claire's house?" I bet something does happen to her & that's how Kate ends up with Aaron...
I totally can't understand why they won't just show all the episodes at once. Why must we wait??

Did anybody else notice the ear-piece on Alex in the last scene? What's up with that?
Posted by: Amanda | Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 01:50 AM
Something to think about. Locke was killed by Ben too, but he didn't stay dead. Wouldn't surprise me to see either or both of them back a live in a few shows... or maybe not.

Here is a link to some "screencaps". If you scroll down to the ones of Danielle and Alex you'll see a picture of the earpiece. Makes me wonder if she was in on it.

I noticed that earpiece, I just assumed it was some kind of funky jewelry, or something.

I think it's more likely for the filming and didn't get edited out.

All I wanted to say is I love your LOST posts. :-) I am addicted to this show!

I think it's totally obvious that Ben somehow had Rousseau and Carl taken care of. he doesn't like to share. It was obvious inthe same way that it had to be Michael on the boat but I was surprised to here that they did actually get off the island. I didn't think Ben would allow it. But in actuality he didn't because even though he was off the island, Michael will never be truly off the island because he can't seem to live past what happened there.
I didn't notice the earpiece...good observation and very interesting indeed...
I think Sayid as an alterior motive in "outing" michael as a traitor. This is a man who knows what he's doing. It'll make sense later I'm sure.
I think there shall never be another show so brilliant and addicting :)

whoa, sorry for the typos...forgot to proof read. Ooops!
Posted by: Jenn | Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 04:37 PM
I think I get more confused as time goes on. I am sure I will be completely stymied next week! LOL
Posted by: Hislifeformine | Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 06:24 PM
I agree with Jenn, I'm sure Ben had something to do with Rousseau and Carl getting killed.
And I think the ear piece was probably just her mic that got loose on that take. Danieele wouldn't have wanted/let anything happen to Carl, her mom, or anyone, really.

I think that Ben may have had something to do with it, but let's not forget that in the last episode Sayid asks where the helicopter is and is told that someone had to run an errand. I may not have that totally right, but I distinctly remember that the helicopter was gone last episode. I also don't think the scene with the guys shooting practice was a coincidence. I think that more than likely the snipers on the boat got to them. I also have a theory that Ben and Widmore are connected, that they are or once were partners. Ben's folks blame Widmore for the coverup, Widmore's folks blame Ben for the coverup. Maybe they are both to blame.

I don't think Danielle is necessary dead. They confirmed Carl was dead, but not her. We'll have to see.
