No, Really, I'm Not Here
I'm still on a bloggy break, seriously--just pretend you can't see me. But I had to share this picture of the sweet little drama going on in the hanging flower basket just outside my backdoor:
They are the sweetest little things you've ever seen. Their little necks pop up and their mouths open wide when their momma flies in. And this momma has banned all bats and balls from the backyard until the little ruggers have taken wing.
Now, if I were here, which I'm not, because I'm on a break, but IF I were, this is where I would remind you that WFMW is a themed edition this week: What DOESN'T Work For Me.
See you then.

OOOO!!! So cute!!!

Isn't it wonderful seeing God's creative hand at work?

My family got to have this same experience a couple of years ago. We had a bird family nesting right outside my son's window and each day we would check on our new little friends and watched them grow until they moved out on their own.
It seems like is was less than a month and the little birds were gone! Wow.

It's hard to resist that blogging-pull that draws you in isn't it? I'm glad you will be back soon. I enjoy your posts as a daily dose of fun for me!

That is so sweet! On a slightly-not-so-sweet-note: Watch out for tomcats. They like to eat baby birdies. It happened to the nest in our front yard-the one I had photographed and shared with my children. I had to take the BB gun away from my hubby-you know, because it was my neighbor's cat, and it was a gun.
We cried over that for a week!

Oh how cute!! I'm kind of jealous. ;) We had some eggs just outside our dining room window and I got all excited and then... something bad happened. *sniff, sniff*. I did get a pic of the eggs and the momma though.

Boy does that look familiar!! I volunteer at a wildlife hospital and as you have shown, it is baby bird season. Saturday afternoon I had to feed 53 baby birds every hour between noon and 6:00 PM. Bless you for helping your baby bird's mommy do the best she can to take care of them herself. Make sure that any neighborhood cats stay away too.

Whao.. a bird's nest with newborn birds. A real treat from mother nature.

That makes me want to have babies...baby birds that is. I miss the nest that was over the door a few years ago, even if Momma dive bombed us every time we came home. There is nothing sweeter than the sounds of those baby birds singing in the quiet of the early morning.
Thanks for sharing while you aren't here!

We had some birds build a nest above our front door at our old house. It was really sweet, because we got to watch all the babies learn to fly (window above the door). Not so sweet - until they learn to fly, they just poop over the side of the nest. We put up with that and just hosed down the front porch daily. Then we had the snake. Took the dog out one night to grace the front yard, I look up and there is a snake above our front door. Don't know if he got any babies before dh got the snake but as soon as all the babies learned to fly, we took down the nest and forced them to relocate. I will put up with alot to watch sweet baby birds, but I draw the line at snakes above my front door. ;)

Minus the birds, your hanging baskets look like mine. Dry dirt. No flowers. Is yours over seven years old and still sitting around waiting for flowers? I swear this summer I'm going to plant something in them.
Enjoy your little beauties! :-)

Oh, I've always wanted to see something like this in real life. I'm not a fan of grown-up birds, but baby ones are so sweet.

Aww. We now have 3 eggs in a nest amidst a wreath hanging right on our front door. NO slamming the door, kids!

that is so great. nature. live. in your back yard. A couple years ago my MIL had a nest of birds in her flower pots. it was so amazing to see the little birds up close.

My daughter would LOVE to have that to look at! :) Hope you're enjoying your much-deserved break, Shannon. :)

And if you were here, which you're not, then I would tell you that those baby birds are the sweetest thing I've seen all day. I would whisper so I wouldn't disturb them. But since you're not here, I don't have to worry about waking them up or anything, because I wouldn't really say that.
Right?

That's cool. We just realized we had a new neighbor yesterday when we went to open the front door. There is a nest at the top of the wreath on our door!
