**SPOILER ALERT! If you don't want to know what happens, don't read any further.**
THAT was an amazing episode. It almost felt like we had something closely resembling answers, didn't it? I mean, the Lost version of answers, not the real kind. Still, I'm happy.
The name of tonight's episode was "This Place Is Death", so we knew right away it was bound to be especially cheerful. If there had been any room for doubt about this, surely the severed arm in the first five minutes would've set us straight.
Our old friend the smoke monster is back. I've wondered, for whom is he working? The Others? Charles Widmore? Maybe he's been planted there by NBC to keep us so confused we finally give up on the show.
Things got dark and confusing very quickly. Poor Charlotte hallucinates and is, apparently, stuck in time. Noses are bleeding all over the place. Daniel in the future evidently talked to Charlotte in the past. Jin tells Danielle about the radio tower, even though we know Danielle recorded her message 15 years before Jin ever set foot on the island.
(I need an Advil.)
Jin sweetly tries to prevent Sun from coming back, which is so heroic. Sun, though, will have none of it, and she seems determined to head back to the island for her husband (though wouldn't her daughter have to go back, too?)
Christian Shepherd, it appears, is the mysterious Jacob (or is he?). I can't even begin to figure out how that would work in the timeline, and what it means for Jack (and for that matter, Claire). John Locke shows some serious bravery and personal sacrifice, and the thought flickered through my mind, "You know, he kind of reminds me of Jack Bauer," which may prove that I'm watching too much TV.
For what it's worth, I'll go on the record with a prediction. I think all of the people who have "died" on the island (Boone, Shannon, Charlie, Alex, Charlotte, etc.) are all coming back. I bet this entire thing culminates with some big time reversal in which everyone is alive again. Maybe I've just convinced myself of this so I won't have to be so sad about Charlotte.
Funniest line of the night, spoken by Miles, when he was told to translate for Jin: "He's from Korea. I'm from Encino."
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this episode--one of the best we've ever had, in my opinion.
