SPOILER ALERT! Don't read any further if you don't want to know what happened on tonight's episode.
My mind is so completely blown that there are pieces of it all over my living room.
That was a surreal episode, and my head hurts from trying to follow Richard Alpert in two plot lines, in two time "zones", SIMULTANEOUSLY. I have to tell you, in all honesty--my love for this show hasn't waned one bit, but my understanding of it is slipping every week. I'm gradually becoming more and more...well, lost.
Tonight I find myself wondering, again, who the bad guy(s) is(are). Jacob, Ben, Richard, John, Charles, Eloise--the jury is entirely out, truly, whether any of these people really have the motives they say they do. Is Richard lying about the existence of Jacob? Why has John lied to Sun about his motives? Is Eloise really trying to save her son, or is she once again acting on some bizarre sense of obligation to The Island?
Here are a few notable points and questions from "Follow the Leader":
-- Sayid is back! It's about time. I love it--love it--when Sayid rushes in to save the day, like he did tonight. I know he's one of the more conflicted characters on the show, but he's actually the one I "trust" the most.
-- Why did Richard tell John "you look different"? That seems telling. Maybe John isn't really alive. You know, the whole Island Undead thing.
-- Tonight John said "the Island told me." That is cryptic and strange, and I want to know what he means. I've always like John, but I'm starting to think he's seriously nuts.
-- The submarine scene was some pretty questionable CGI, wasn't it? It was a little too Star-Trekky for me. What was great about the submarine scene was the look on Juliet's face when Kate popped down the hatch. If looks could kill...
We only have one more week of Lost, and as much I'll miss it, I'm kind of glad. I'm looking forward to going back and watching this season again and seeing if I can get my addled brain into gear.
Oh, and the best quote of the night is a tie between the following:
Ben: This must be quite the out-of-body experience
- and -
Sawyer: We'll buy Microsoft.
I'd love to hear what you though of tonight's episode. If you're blogging Lost at your own blog, feel free to leave your link in the comments section..
