About the Author

I'm a 30-something stay-at-home mom to four kids: Adam (age 10), Stephen (age 9), Joseph (age 6) and Corrie (age 3).

Those aren't my kids' real names, and yes, as a matter of fact, I HAVE mistakenly called them by their blog names before.

I'm married to my college sweetheart. He's a keeper.

I live in Oklahoma now, but I grew up in rural Arkansas, in a town just like Mayberry.  I'd swear Barney Fife was my 11th grade government teacher.

I'm a contributing editor at BlogHer, and every once in a blue moon over here.

There is a part of me that still holds out hope of growing up to be an Olympic figure-skater.

I don't know how to ice skate.

I'm a grammar snob. It's true. Use a semi-colon well, and I will be your friend for life.

I'd rather sew than eat. And that's saying something, because y'all, I LIKE to eat.

I love to play the piano, and I'm awful at it.  I think I might enjoy gardening, but it scares me.

I don't blog about politics very often, but I'm a news junkie. I'm pretty sure I'm part of the vast, right-wing conspiracy.

I used to be a liberal.

If you are a cat person, I'm sorry, I will still be your friend, but I think your pet comes from the very bowels of Hades.

My pets, on the other hand, come from the sewer.

I have a degree in English, and all of my professors assured me that companies want to hire people with liberal arts training.

Companies do not, in fact, want to hire people with liberal arts training.

But that's okay, because I have used my highly valuable knowledge of 19th-century British poetry to become a PTA committee chair.

After 13 years of marriage, my husband still makes me laugh out loud every day.

I'm a goof-ball, a mess, and a hot-head...and yet, for some reason, I'm loved and forgiven by a very big God. It boggles the mind.

If you don't like sappy mom blogs, you might want to scoot on by. I'm sappy, I'm mom--hear me roar.
