Stick that one in your Groucho Marx glasses and smoke it, Chilihead! (And in case anyone is new to this little dialogue, please know that I love Chilihead dearly, and she knows it, and the nature of our friendship is to tease each other mercilessly...)
And moving on to other blogging vocabulary--your responses to this post were so clever, just as I knew they would be. I have to say that my vote for the creation of a brand new vocabulary word would be as follows (courtesy of Valarie):
Mirl (v.)--acronymn for "Meet In Real Life"; description for the transition that occurs when an on-line acquaintance becomes a friend you have actually met face-to-face. Example: I was so glad to mirl Jules in Kansas City, or I'm mirling Carol in October, or (to go all adjective on you), GiBee seems very mirlish (as in, someone I'd LIKE to meet).
As the mirlish Jeana pointed out it to me in an e-mail, if the meeting doesn't go well, we could always call it a mirl haggard. Get it?
To take it a step further, we could also have the word tirl, which stands for "Telephone In Real Life", which is a significant bloggy step but not as serious as mirling, as we all know.
Comments?
Perfect. And I hope it's settled because I've been wracking my brain all weekend trying to come up with something this clever. :-)

I like mirl. I will use in September when I post about the http://http://www.everydaymommy.net/everyday-mommy/2006/7/5/java-gab.html>KC Coffee Club get-together, where I look forward to mirling some local bloggers.
I especially love "mirlish". If the word becomes the bloggy phenomenon that I believe it could be, perhaps next year's Blogs of Beauty Awards have a "Most Mirlish" award instead of "Best Meet For A Mocha". You never know?!

Definitely have some mirl-worthy online friends, and have some that aren't. LOL. Great word though!

I hadn't thought of this in YEARS - some things we just try to forget - but your blog made me remember the day I drier my kitten. :(
My boys got me the kitten for my birthday (his name was Andy.) One day while washing sheets he somehow got in the dryer and I didn't see it. It broke my heart!!

LOL! If anyone's smokin' somethin' it's all you weirdos who voted for "eff-ay-cue" instead of "fak"! ;)

TOO Funny! I Love to Mirl. I think that could be on a shirt. I have made awesome friends with people I've met from blogs and webgroups, and we've gone on to meet up when possible. Currently my new best friend is someone I met while blogging, and it turns out she lives nearby!
P.S. Don't hate me but I think it's FAK.

Still sticking with Fak.

The mirl sounds OK to me...
But all this reminds me of when I was pregnant with my first born over seven years ago. I "met" some great gals of whom we all became so close, due to our on-line community called Storknet. After our babies were born, I met three of them in person. MIRLS!
And that's what this blogging, which I'm still pretty new with, is so reminisent of for me. And it's great! :)

So--all of us who met at the KC blogger's luncheon--we're mirl girls?? :)

You do realize, of course, that if you pronounce MIRL like merl instead of M-I-R-L you should also be pronouncing FAQ as fak.
Put that in your dryer and smoke it, Shannon!
LOL. I'm just sayin'.

Oh, yes ... we certainly do need to add these words to our vocabs!!! I've TIRL-ed with a few and trust me when I say ... they are all STILL MIRLs and none of them are Hags -- as in Haggard.
Good words, Shannon! So, what else do you do in your spare time? hehehehe!

I think we all spend WAY too much time on this blogging thing...
MIRL is great as well as TIRL. Can't wait to have more mirl with the girls in Texas!

I LOVE IT!!!!! =)

An acronym can be either a word or an abbreviation consisting of initial letters see: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/acronym
Therefore, "mirl" and "FAQ" are not mutually exclusive as far as pronunciation.
