I'm re-running an idea I shared over a year ago, but it's such a good one it warrants dusting off out of the archives.
Last Christmas, my sister-in-law L (who, by the way, took up all the thin, beautiful, artistic genes in our family, but I love her anyway) made the most incredible gifts for my children. A month before Christmas, she asked them to draw and color a picture of a character--any character. Adam drew Mario from Nintendo, Stephen drew SpongeBob, and Joseph made up something all his own. We mailed them to her, and she used their drawings to create patterns...and then she re-created their little creatures in pillow form. My kids went nuts for them and they still love them. Here's a picture:
I wish I could show you Joseph's original drawing (and I suppose I could, if I wanted to spend two hours digging through last year's keepsake box, which I do not.) If you could see it, you would be amazed at how faithful L's sewn rendition was to Joseph's original.
Have an idea you'd like to share with Bloggityville? Leave a link below! WFMW guidelines can be found here. And yes, you're more than welcome to grab this new WFMW graphic off my site for use on your own.
(By the way, I've had several people e-mail me recently for the links to my Jesse Tree posts from a few weeks ago. If you're looking for them, you can find them here and here.)
Awesome! Just one more cool thing to file in the "I hope I remember this one day" section of my brain!

I've been thinking about this since you posted it last year! I'm going to try to do it with my kids' drawings. I'll let you know how it goes.

Very cute! I didn't know about your blog last year, so I don't mind that it's a re-run idea that you're sharing. It's new to me! :)

I totally remember this from last year, as that was about the time I started reading your blog. I was thinking about those pillows the other day and wondering if I could pull it off for my own family. I mean, I know I could pull it off, but could I do it in time for the actual Christmas day? I'm not so sure about that...
Those were super cute, though, and such a great idea.

I know I know, a Christmas theme and I promise I'll have a more Christmas-appropriate one next week (assuming I'm not voted off the island after my non-Christmas tip) but I'm thinking lots about cooking so it kind of fits. Sort of.

Wow, is she talented and clever! I like that funny little fellow! (BTW, since she's your sister-in-law, you do know you couldn't have gotten any of the same genes as her, anyway, don't you?)

That is just adorable! I'd have to make a horse, an octopus and a hmmm, some kind of knight with a sword, were I to try this idea. But I just might sometime!

Whoa. What a fun idea! I will have to pass this on to my sister who has TONS more sewing ability than me. Thanks.

Neat idea! And I love your blog's new Christmas look! I forgot to put "Christmas receipts" after my entry in Mr. Linky and right now it isn't showing me the option to delete my link and redo it -- if that option does show up, I'll redo it.

What a sweet gift and cute idea!
By the way, I made your Brown Sugar Biscuits for an "End of Bible Study Party" at church yesterday and they were a big hit. My family enjoyed them, too! Thanks for the recipe!

I love the new graphic! And what a cute idea! I'll get my WFMW up in a minute (though it's not Christmas themed).

Hey Shannon! This is the first time I've posted on WFMW, but I've been reading it for about 2 months now. I like the Christmas theme on your site! Where do you get all your cool graphics? Thanks for hosting!
