What an amazing ending to Lost tonight! Dr. Jack laughing and playing football with Scary Bearded Other Man? WHAT IN THE WORLD? No more than a couple of days could've elapsed since Kate and Sawyer left him, right? And already he's been brainwashed? OR maybe he's learned that they're actually nice people. Ooooh, so help me, those writers better throw us a crumb on the brainwashed Jack storyline next week.
Now, Claire. Her character has always bugged me a little--she has such a chip on her shoulder. How many times has she said, "I'M NOT GOING TO LET MY BABY BE AROUND YOU!" on this show? But after her brilliant note-on-a-bird idea, she's redeemed herself in my eyes.
It appears that Desmond (brutha!) is basically following Charlie around keeping him alive (and if you have a two year old, you can relate to this situation.) IS IT really inevitable that our Charlie is done for?
Last thing: John Locke. You know, I know, everyone knows that this man holds the key to the mystery of the island. It's just a hunch I've had from the very first episode, and many at the message boards agree (yes, I'm dorky enough to visit the Lost message boards). His whole C-4 stealing stunt makes no sense. The bottom line is that John doesn't want to leave the island. I think that he is, in fact, sabotaging their quest for answers.
You fellow Losties out there, please chime in with your observations.
I really have trouble "getting" Lost sometimes. I get caught up in the plot, and muse to myself whether or no the particualr nackstory is interesting. And then... the next day people have all these questions and ideas and I'm, um.. lost. lol. We had an earthquake here a couple of weeks back in the middle of a Lost episode actually. Now that added to the drama!
Uou've got me thinking about John not wanting the to leave the island. And indeed - it is conceivable that someone might not want to leave an island (I say this since I live on one myself).
I think we are a little behind you with our episodes. :)

I meant backstory, not nackstory -there's a new word.

I missed last week so this week I was trying to catch up on who the one eyed patch guy was and all :)
After the show, in the "stayed tuned for scenes from next weeks show" I saw John Locke saying to someone that he was looking for the submarine. i don't know what that means but John is up to something again.
It really threw me when John pushed eye patch guy past those "pylon" things and he pretty much fried. ew!
I love this crazy show :)

I was a little bit bugged that they tied a paper note to the bird's foot without even an attempt to protect it (the note) from the elements! It seems like someone, on the cast at least, would have spoken up about that. Other than that, it was an awesome episode. LOST is the best television ever!

And what about the revelation that Jack's father and Claire's father are the same man?!? Still trying to figure out the obvious but hidden significance of that!

I thought it was a great show. I've said for a while that Jack and Claire were siblings. I just had that feeling when Ana Lucia took his dad to that house in Sydney. It was nice to learn that was true!
When I saw Jack 'running toward Kate' I was like, what, it that really Jack, or an illusion. The look on Kate's face was priceless when she saw him playing football.
So, Patchy said that Ben was not the man in charge, then who is? What if it is Locke?! I am anxious to see what they reveal about him next week.

Until I saw Jack's dad with Claire's mom, I had forgotten there was a hint that Jack's dad might also be Claire's dad in an episode when he hires Ana Lucia and goes to a house in Australia and talks to a woman who looks like Claire. Too bad she didn't want to know his name. I wonder if or how she and Jack will ever find out they are related. And I wonder why Claire's aunt hated him? Other, of course, than the obvious fact of his carrying on with Claire's mom (or mum) when he had another family.
Claire looks much better as a blond than with the jet-black-haired Goth look.
I had kinda sorta forgotten about Locke's not wanting to leave the island, but that does put his actions into perspective -- some of the things he has done recently just seemed kind of dumb or senseless except for that fact. It's hard to fathom, though, that he deliberately pushed Mikhail into that security perimeter. I had heard that we would see what had caused Locke to be paralyzed, and it looks like the next episode is it.
There had been earlier hints and comments that Ben wasn't the ultimate one in charge. I wonder who is.
I wonder how the Others get their info. about people and why they see everyone else's flaws but not their own.

I don't think it's that John doesn't want to leave the island, I think it's that he believes that his destiny is on that island and he's just trying to figure out what his destiny is. And so maybe he is sabotaging their efforts to get off the island, but not because he is intentionally doing so, but because he's after something different than they are. And who would want to go back to living in a wheel chair after being miraculously cured? I was reminded last night that no one else knows that.
Does anyone remember who all was on "The List"? I remember Walt, Hurley and maybe Jack, but I can't remember the rest.
I think it's sweet that Desmond that has been trying to save Charlie. I think he sees what Claire and Charlie have and wants to save that, too. So sweet.
This was definitely one of the better episodes of this "spring season". I was actually smiling at the cliffhanger.

I second the comment about the unprotected paper note. These birds aren't exactly going to fly non-stop without settling into the water from time to time. Poor form.
LOVED the ending. We'll see what happens there. The fun (and maddening) thing about Lost is that NOTHING is what it seems and anything is possible!

I'm a dork and read the message boards, too.
I thought this week's and last week's episodes were much better! I agree that Locke has something up his sleeves, but I think it has so much to do with his past. He's VERY protective of the secrets of his past and what he knows about the island. He's making me mad, though.
It was wierd seeing Jack playing football with THEM. I was wondering if we were really seeing what is actually happneing, or some sort of facade. So strange. I can't wait for next week!
The message boards have been speculating for quite some time that Claire and Jack are bro and sis. Now it is confirmed.

What a good episode! Learning that Jack and Claire are half siblings wasn't a surprise, but her added backstory was interesting and gave us additional reasons for her initial conviction that she would not be a fit mother to her baby.
I thought the comment that Patchman (can't remember his name) started to make when Danielle interrupted him was intriguing--something about "the John Locke I know..." I didn't catch exactly what he said, so I'll have to watch it again. The twist with Jack running toward them was great!

I loved every bit of it. That was a very satisfying episode. Kate's face when she saw The Others compund and Jack playing football was just priceless! It's the List that's been plaguing me...how do the Others know so much?! That crazy patch guy was freaking me out!

Last night's episode was great! I was completely shocked when I saw Jack running for that football (They have it made over on that island!)
I was thinking the same thing about Claire and the "GET AWAY FROM ME CHARLIE!" She does that OVER and OVER again.

Another LOST boards lurker/fan here. I had read awhile ago that Jack & Claire were siblings. It is a cool connection and I can't wait until it is revealed to them. Just think -- Jack is Arron's uncle.
I have always been intrigued by Locke and his lack of fear over the island. The whole miracle of walking thing is pretty wild. I anticipate next week when we find out how he was paralyzed.
I also suspect that Russo knows MUCH, MUCH more than about The Others, Dharma and everything else than she acts like she does.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show.

Last night's episode was awesome! I can't wait for next week.
I remember them saying that they were going to give a lot more answers this season, but they are giving SO many more questions as well.
It is great that Jake and Claire are siblings. I just wonder how they'd get to that since she doesn't know her father's name...

Hi there,
I've been a lurker to your blog for some time now, but I have never (I think) commented in your guestbook. However, when you dangled the LOST hook, I had to bite! I think that Jack is one of THEM! I've thought it from the beginning. I've also been suspicious of Kate being on of THEM also. Since her skillz are way more than the average bear, you have to admit it's a good theory. I have to say that I've been known to sit for hours, yes HOURS, and read the LOST conspiracy theories online. It's a sickness. Yep.
Love your blog!

I think that Locke believes that he will go back to being paralyzed, bound to a wheelchair, if he leaves the island. He has nothing to go home to, plus the possibility of losing the use of his legs, makes me think that he will do anything to sabatouge leaving the island.

I was shocked when Locke killed the patch guy and that he was lying to Sayid & Kate...until they looked in his backpack! Oh, Locke, please don't be bad! When they were keeping Ben (Henry Gale) in the Hatch he told Locke that he was one of them and that Ben had come to get Locke and bring him into the others...yeah! I think Locke wants answers about that and what his destiny is!
Jack is NOT brainwashed - I won't believe it! They just want our faith in him to waiver. Remember his tatoo...he walks among you, but is not one of you...huh, huh?!
This show gets me going!

Okay, one more comment...I might agree with Kelly
GardenPinkie
I remember in the season finale in Oct right? When they sent Michael & Walt away...Jack and Kate are on the docks...and they sort of exchange this strage look with each other and almost a hint of a sligh nod...like saying, ya, you know what to do to each other...it was odd and I kinda thought..mmm what's that? I don't think they are "others" . . . but the whole others and hostiles thing shakes stuff up a bit...

Finally saw the episode online! I think the one is charge is Jacob - whoever he is. He is the one with the list. I recall Carl (at least I think that is his name), Alex's boyfriend, tell Kate and Sawyer about Jacob's list.
