This afternoon my kids were outside playing war games with the neighborhood posse of children. My six-year-old son ran breathlessly inside and grabbed a drink of water.
"What are y'all doing out there?" I asked him, as he started to dash back out.
"Defeating England," he said.
Oh.
What a totally American thing to say! Love it :)

You better remind him that England may be the only friend we have left. Tell him to take it a little easier on them the next time! :)

Oh dear, I'd be much more pleased if they were defeating France...:)

It sounds to me like you all would enjoy reading The BFG by Roald Dahl this summer!

Funny! While they're kickin' booty, maybe you could put in a suggestion that they take David Beckham as a POW & perhaps you guys could send him to a concentration camp here in Alabama!
Just a suggestion...

Just remind him that if they defeat England, they must then accept responsibility to benevolently rule her subjects - you know, Canada, Australia . . . :-)

Oh yeah. Love those totally random moments when you just have to stare in open mouthed wonder.
Like the other day when I asked my 3-yr-old what he was thinking.
"I'm thinking about triangles."
Fair enough.

ROFL! That's even better than my 2 year old informing me that I am "Sleeping Doody."

I don't know which tickles me more, "Sleeping Doody" or "Defeating England". I have one of each gender, so I guess I'm partial to both. Very sweet.
