Backyard Art
I browsed through some photography blogs over the weekend and was feeling inspired. We had a gorgeous Sunday, perfect for an evening cookout, so I tried to catch some artsy-fartsy shots of life-as-usual in my own backyard (and I figured I'd better do it QUICK! before everything shrivels up dead...

"Aw, man...I've smelled some bad diapers, but this one will BLOW YOU AWAY."
"Easy. Breezy. Beautiful. Pamper Girl."
"The diaper stacker has sooo been done. I want the diaper storage blades that hang from the ceiling."
Posted by: Jeana | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:19 PM
Oh. My. GOSH. Please tell me those are unused diapers. If they aren't, please tell me the boys wisely chose the diapers and there was no poo flinging.
Posted by: chilihead | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:27 PM
Yes, they're unused. Which only makes me feel a LITTLE better.
Posted by: Rocks In My Dryer | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:29 PM
the pamper girl one is my fave.
still i wonder, aren't those absorbant crystals in disposable diapers from the same material one finds in popcorn ceilings? sorry my mind wanders a bit when i am tired.
funny picture.

OK.. I will not complain anymore about my kids scattering the (clean) diapers all over the room.
Posted by: the_moira | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:31 PM
Because you have 3 boys I completely can see how this happens (must have been some sort of fun game they made up- I know those games!) And I still think that Jeana's captions are the BEST! Hilarious!

"When Crap Hits The Fan!"
Posted by: Shery | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:17 PM
Who needs air freshener when you have a diaper-fanner?
Posted by: owlhaven | Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:26 PM
They knew the cr@p was going to hit the fan so they prepared as best they could.
Posted by: Tara | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 12:14 AM
Too funny! I have no caption because I am laughing too hard. :vD
Posted by: Susanne | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 01:02 AM
Doesn't everyone have diapers hanging from their fans???? My boys love to throw things on top of the one in their room. You turn the fan on and then duck. You can never be sure what may go flying across the room.
Posted by: julie | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 01:02 AM
"Rockin' around the diaper tree"
"Dooty in the wind"
"Tired of all those floral scented air freshners?"
"New baby", the smell every parent knows and loves!
I'm still tickled..hehe

That is truly original! For kicks, here are some captions:
"To remove excess moisture in the air, try this home remedy for extra-humid homes..."
"Remember in elementary school when we would throw wet, wadded paper towels on the restroom ceiling? Well, that prank is back with a SPIN on it..."
"What MacGyver did to his boat propeller when the boat would only operate on high speed and he needed to make a slow approach..."
p.s. Was there a real explanation behind the photo???

Well, that's one way to keep the baby out of the diaper supply!
Your home looks beautiful. Love the walls, and the way the bookshelf integrates into the panel design.
Posted by: Carrie | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 04:03 AM
That's what you get when you make the baby do the housework. I thought MY mom was creative for letting us be the ones to dust chair rungs and rockers. You've taken child labor to new heights:-0
Posted by: elizabeth | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:11 AM
Is this a new way to break open the pinata?! Seems safer than giving children a big stick with a blindfold on.
Posted by: Ellen B. | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:28 AM
Two thought immediately came to mind when seeing this one....
#1--"Wow. What Creative Little Guys She Has!!"
#2--"I sure like the molding and paint in that room!!"
The "Fanny Diapers" are too funny. It reminds me of the time my Dad taught my sister and I that my Mom's bras belonged on the ceiling fan. Hehe. That was too fun!
Posted by: Diatribal | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:55 AM
That is too funny! I love all the captions that people thought of. My mind is blank.

Hunter ceiling fans try to compete with the diaper genie.
Posted by: pappa | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 10:15 AM
The comments already listed make me LOL! ALL I can say is been there, cleaned that up.
Posted by: Rachel | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 11:08 AM
Ha ha! Here's one - "To convince our daughter it was time to potty train we put her diapers on the highest shelf we could find"
Posted by: Sincerely Anna | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 11:08 AM
Oh my goodness that is funny. I guess when you complain about the cost of diapers going higher this is what they think of.
Posted by: Cindy | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 02:07 PM
Rocks, you gotta buy your boys some toys.
Posted by: Christine | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 02:12 PM
LOL that is sooooooo funny!
Posted by: Bethany | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 02:30 PM
Dare I ask how they actually got them up there? That's too funny. Love the caption ideas...I can never think of anything clever.

"In an attempt to save the planet from Global Warming, Shannon Dryer carefully washes and hangs up disposable diapers to dry."
Next time use cloth ones, Mrs. Dryer.
Sincerely,

And now you know why I found socks on the topmost shelf in their room.

"How a tired mom got her giggle back...the answer my friend is blowing in the wind"
cute stuff. My kids have thrown stuffed animals on fans too. Funny fan story - my wedding dress was hanging from my parents' fan the night before my wedding. My dad accidentally turned it on. His shrieks brought everyone upstairs, expecting to find him injured. Nope, just my dress swirled in a tight whip.
Thanks for sharing!

The new diaper drying system. Perfect for reusing only slightly soiled diapers.
(Ew ew ew!)
I am so glad my boys haven't gotten to that age (yet).

A pampered fan?
Posted by: Jungle Mom | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:21 PM
Hilarious! These comments were as funny as the pic....well the combination was sooo funny. I'm going to have to show my three girls what your three boys have done! ROFLOL
God Bless YOUR Heart!
Posted by: Jenileigh | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:44 PM
Very creative - my kids just like wearing them as hats!
Posted by: sara - The Estrogen Files | Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:56 PM
my boys would put stuffed animals on our fan till one day the one thing (what are they called, arms?) anyway, the one thing fell off. Now that there are only three arms and the fan is totally broken they want nothing to do with it.

Wow. There's something about that that makes you proud though. There's GOT to be a baby shower game in this somehow.
My son stuffed his wet pullups down the living room air vent. How I didn't see or smell them is beyond me. Pulled 'em out (about 6 of them) with BBQ tongs.

My youngest turns 5 in June. This will tell you how "done" I am with diapers & potty training: I couldn't tell what those things were on your fan blades! (...until I read the comments, of course)

Does your roof leak when it rains? Try the absorbant, quiet way to catch those annoying leaks! And avoid tripping over those full pans when you get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night!
Posted by: qtpies7 | Monday, May 21, 2007 at 05:58 PM
That scares the livin' daylights out of me (I'm laughing at the same time). I have a 3 year old and 20 month old triplets and I can picture that at my house.
Posted by: Lynne | Monday, May 21, 2007 at 10:01 PM
Seeing this makes me feel a little better about the crazy things my kids do to our house.
