Today's WFMW tip is a quickie--I'm up to my eyeballs in back-to-school events, paperwork, and (of course) last-minute fun.
I've been having good bit of fun lately doing some eBay shopping for my daughter. Have you seen the kind of bargains you can get on gently-worn children's clothing there (particularly for girls?) I have to admit my fondness for Baby-Lulu-esque girl clothes, but there is NO WAY I'd pay that kind of money. On eBay, you can find bargains on high-end kids' clothes for pennies on the dollar. Just today I won the outfit on the right for a SONG. Could you eat it up?
And while you're there you can also bid on this. Oh-so-very practical.
Alright, so this is a wimpy WFMW, but y'all, I've been sharpening so many pencils this week I think my brain has lead poisoning from the fumes. Please jump in and post more clever links below. WFMW guidelines can be found here.

Ebay is the best for little girl clothes..I haven't had so much luck with boy clothes. 'Gently worn' and little boys is just not a phrase I trust..:)
Love the outfit you scored! :)

Hmmm...thanks, good to know. I'm always needing to get little things, like one more pair of PJ's, for my son- but I hate to spend the money one something he will grow out of in no time and only waer to bed! I'll have to try ebay- thanks!

Thank you, Shannon. I just scored some great finds at a resale shop, too. They were clearing out the summer clothes to make room for fall.

I'm exhausted right now but I will post a tip tomorrow. BTW, darn the luck, Di's dress is a little out of my budget. I will have to find a different dress for...oh, who am I kidding.

I love bargains. In fact I have an awful time paying full price for anything. Well done on finding your bargains on brands you enjoy...

That may be a quick tip, but it's a good one! I always forget to check eBay for things, so it's a great reminder.
Thanks!

Um...unless you are getting those pencils from China, I doubt you have lead poisoning from that! ;)
I think everyone is struggling this week. Enjoy your kiddos while you can!

Ebay does have some great deals. The outfit is adorable.
Good luck with your pencil sharpening. :)

I LOVE ebay too! Whatever I can't get at our bi-annual consignment sale, I head to ebay for. My best bargain was a huge box of little boy clothes/shoes that had over $50 items in it. I got it for $47 including s&h. Most everything was in GREAT shape! Keep shopping honey!

I love me some eBay! I'm always looking for deals on the kid's clothes there, especially with a 'tween who's starting to get into "labels"!

I LOVE me some ebay clothes for my girls. I've gotten several Hanna Andersson's already for this fall.

My sister is the Master of Ebay and gets all her kids' clothes there. She's tried to convert me but I'm hopeless.

I like Ebay, my problem is I don't like waiting...I live in New Jersey, South Jersey that is, and about 10 minutes from where I live there is a place called Plato's Closet. It's like a consignment shop, only you get store credit the moment you trade in your clothes. The clothes must be in good condition and clean. They then do a quick steam clean on them, price them and put them on the rack. My youngest is 14 so "name" brands are the rage but who can afford it? I gave her $30 and she came out with 2 Holister tops and 2 pairs of really cute denim shorts! Each item was roughly $6 each.

I love e-bay too.
I see the Diana dress is in aid of Charity,
I guess that makes it ok then ;-)

Without wishing to sound boastful - so many times folk have made comment on something myself or the kids were wearing and I'd reply "ebay!" much to their atonishment!

I think that gown would be just right for me. ;-) I do love ebay!

Thanks for the reminder. I have not ever used ebay for clothes, but I used to be a little hooked. Just yesterday I wrote about how using Priceline gives me a similar to thrill to ebay (I published my tips here ).
We have a family wedding coming up in September, so I should really take a look!

Can we buy kids on eBay too? Cindy's been wanting more.

Nothing makes me happier than a BARGAIN! I loves to be cheap. I mean thrifty.

Ebay rules.

I too LOVE E-bay, especially when you can get a garbage bag....yes, a garbage bag full of clothes shipped to my house for $35. I had enough clothes to keep my daughter clothed for at least a year with my find.

Actually, this was a great reminder for me - thanks!

Hubby and I are big Ebayers too. I got my cloth diapers there, my soap ingredients and so much more!

I loooooove eBay - we buy everything from formula to wedding clothes there (no, seriously - I bought my wedding dress of eBay!). It's a great way to clothe your little ones, too.

How funny! I just came here after buying a homeschooling book on eBay this morning!

So far we've managed with what's been given to us clothes-wise, but we're quickly reaching the point at which that will no longer be enough. I'll have to try eBay when I finally give in and start letting myself buy things for our little man!

Love Ebay, but have to wait on buying girl clothes until BabyChubChub is out of the "poop on everything" size! I just can't deal with the possibility that I'm buying something someone else's kid pooped on!

I love ebay! I've never bought clothing on there before, but if the prices are so good I may have to start! Thanks for the tip and for hosting!!

I'm an ebay junkie...I have bought and sold tons of things. I love a good deal - don't you?
Posted by: Karen | Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 11:37 AM
I ADORE Ebay!! I get 90% of my kids clothes there. People always comment on how well-dress they are and I always laugh and say "Ebay! You can do it too!" It also helps when you've got girls and want to keep them, um, not too teenager-y. Lots of Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, ect.

I love Baby Lulu!!

Checked out the dress. Definitely not me! I don't do strapless. I think you got the bargain outfit instead! LOL! I haven't done eBay for clothes, but for K'nex and school curriculums, it ***rocks***! Amazon's used retailers are good sources too.
Posted by: LeeAnn | Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 04:55 PM
I started to bid, but they said I wasn't pre-approved. They're such sticklers!!

I love the fact the the shipping on Di's dress is free.

I am constantly combing EBAY for the Pepper Toes clothes for the Wog... it's the Baby Lulu line for boys. I love it!
I've gotten some really good deals!

I love ebay, I've been buying girls and boys 'The childrens Place" clothes for very excellent prices! You usually end up with some other good brands as well!! I hate paying high retail prices for clothes they will be outgrowing in 6 months anyway!! Nobody knows that I didn't buy them brand new.. well, except all of you now...
